The Police Drone: Several items about the WPD’s plan to buy a drone are carried over from last week. If you want to add your two cents about this plan, this would be a good meeting to call in. Nicole has more on the funding for the drone.
2023 Proposed Budgets: The Manager would like the Council to approve proposals for the 2023 operating budget and capital improvement plan. I can’t really sum these up in a few sentences. Revenues and expenditures would increase 1.9% vs. 2022.
Fossil Fuel Divestment: The Council will vote whether or not to endorse a state bill that would allow independent public retirement systems to divest from fossil fuels.
$5000 Tree Removals: Councilor Russell has an item requesting the city provide a written ordinance “to amend the city's Tree Ordinance to prevent the reoccurrence of the city charging an owner-occupied single family property owner over $5,000.00 to remove a tree that interferes with their home.”
The Shot: Councilor Rose would like the city to rename Holland Rink Park to Jack “The Shot” Foley Park, “in honor of basketball legend Jack Foley,” who was a standout at Assumption and went on to play a few games for the Celtics and a few for the Knicks.
Boosting Broadband: The non-profit Research Bureau has a report outlining lots of little things the city could do to improve internet speeds.
