Budget Stuff: The Mayor would like the Council to “suspend its rules” to discuss and vote on some budget stuff it hasn’t gotten around to.
Private and Public Streets: There’s a request to remove Sala Street as an official city street. It looks like currently, this road only exists in theory. (See images below.) This request will go to the Planning Board for further discussion.
Police Drones: The Council will have the opportunity to approve the WPD buying a drone. This item was held over from last week. The chief has submitted a revised policy document for the drone program. Some have opposed the drone because it might be used to locate homeless encampments; the chief has a letter alongside the policy document noting “Our department does not intend on using the technology to identify or locate unsheltered individuals. Every use of the UAS would need to be specifically authorized.”
Resident Permit Parking: There’s a request to reduce the area for permit-only parking on Shirley Street. This will go to the Traffic and Parking Committee.
Paying for Parking: If you’re used to using the ParkBoston app to pay for city parking in Worcester, you’ll have to move over to the Passport app itself. ParkBoston used to be Passport under the hood, but not any more.
