Private and Public Streets: There’s a request to make the private street Tewksbury Road public. This will go to the Planning Board for discussion.
Requests for Reports: The Legislative Operations Committee would like clarity on who can act as clerk for Council committee meetings. Councilor King would like a report on the hand recount of ballots in the recent Republican primary election. Councilor King would also like a report from the city’s HR department on how the Council might come up with a better process for the annual evaluation of the City Manager.
Rental Registry: The new Rental Registry, which wasn’t that controversial before it was passed, has become pretty controversial since passing. The Council will take a final vote on the Manager’s amendment reducing the fine for not registering. Councilor Russell would like the registry to be free, and to refund everyone who’s paid the fee so far. Councilor Russell would also like a report from the city’s lawyers on the process for repealing ordinances…
Cherish Act: Councilor Mero-Carlson would like the Council to endorse the “Cherish Act,” state legislation increasing funding for public higher education.
Tabled Under Privilege: Items regarding Payment In Lieu Of Taxes and changes to the Noise Ordinance have been held over from last week’s meeting.
